Use your existing API key and subscription. Submitting a generation uses credits; uploading and preparing a request does not start a generation.

API access is available to subscribers only. Your subscription credits are shared across the website and the API.

About Seedance API

From an opening frame to the next story beat, VidMage's Seedance API offers several ways to guide a video shot. It generates from text and frames, while Seedance 2.0 also accepts image, video, and audio references. Duration, framing, and resolution vary by capability; output audio is a separate choice. These inputs suit short drama generation one scene at a time. To explore this model's browser workflow, open VidMage's Seedance AI Video Generator.

Seedance API capabilities

Create scenes from text or frames
Generate from a prompt, or use starting and ending images to establish the boundaries of a shot.
Guide Seedance 2.0 with references
Use plural image, video, and audio reference fields to guide a Seedance 2.0 scene. These have different roles from imageUrl, which establishes the opening frame.
Configure camera and audio choices
Use the standard route's cameraFixed control when appropriate, and choose output sound independently on both capabilities.

What you can build

Short drama generation

Build scenes around the beats in a script. Opening and ending frames can guide a shot, while Seedance 2.0 also accepts character and performance references. An episode editor combines the selected footage with dialogue and the rest of the story.

Motion banners for product pages

A lamp switching on can explain more than another still of the lamp. Animate the product photo around that one action and choose the selected capability's framing and sound settings for the page placement.

Transitions for animatics

When two storyboard views feel disconnected, try generating the movement between them. A camera entering a room is one example: supply the two frames and describe its path to give the animation team a transition to work with.

How to use Seedance API

  1. Get an API key

Create a key in the Developer Console and store it on your server. Use it in the Authorization: Bearer header.

  2. Prepare and submit your inputs

Set up your inputs in the Playground, then copy the matching API request. Send it from your server with a unique Idempotency-Key.

  3. Track the task

Save the returned taskId and query the same operation until it completes. Keep that identifier if your app stops waiting.

  4. Retrieve the result

Read videoUrl from the completed task. Preview the result in your app and save a copy to your own storage for later use.

Input tips
Keep duration with its capability
Standard Seedance and Seedance 2.0 have different duration, reference, and resolution controls. Use the fixed durations listed in the selected API’s current parameter table.
Use 2.5 for its separate workflows
Seedance 2.0 accepts up to nine image, three video, and three audio references. Seedance 2.5 editing and extension settings belong to its dedicated capability and page.

Input requirementsUpload local files

Task fields and results

Keep the task identifier with its original request and Idempotency-Key. Query the same capability until it completes, then read the documented result field.

Errors, retries and limits

Retry transport failures with the same idempotency key only when the original submission may not have reached the server. For a confirmed task, keep querying the original task instead of submitting a duplicate.

FAQs

Are failed or timed-out requests charged?

A client timeout is not a confirmed task failure. Confirmed failures are automatically refunded only when the refund outcome is certain. Unknown charges or refunds remain pending reconciliation.

Failure and refund handling ↗
How long should my app wait for a result?

The checked contract does not establish a fixed completion time. Choose a local wait budget for your app; it is not an API completion deadline.

Polling and wait budgets ↗
What are the rate and concurrency limits?

Request-rate limits control how often you can call the API; concurrency limits control simultaneous work. The documentation ties both to the stable API key but does not publish numeric limits for this operation. Confirm account limits before planning parallel jobs.

Rate-limit recovery ↗
Can I receive results through a webhook?

The checked request contract documents status queries and does not list a webhook or callback field for these routes. Check the current authenticated OpenAPI contract before making a callback part of your integration.
