Choose APIs for your image workflow

01

Generate images from text

Add prompt-based image generation to your app. Compare models, generation settings, and output options to select an API for your feature.

02

Edit images with a prompt

Build image-to-image workflows around a source image and editing instructions. Review each model's supported reference inputs before connecting it to your upload flow.

03

Add a specific editing step

Use dedicated APIs for object removal, clothing or hairstyle changes, face swaps, and upscaling. Choose the tool that handles each step in your image pipeline.

What makes VidMage's AI Image APIs stand out

Connect image models and focused editing tools through one VidMage account. Choose the controls your feature needs, from a reference photo to a removal mask or a 4x upscale.

One API key for generation and editing

Activate a VidMage subscription and create an API key in the Developer Console. Keep it on your server and send it as a Bearer token. Reuse authentication, uploads, and task tracking across generation and editing, while checking the capabilities enabled for your account and each API's request example.

Choose image size by model

GPT Image 2 generation uses aspectRatio with 15 choices and resolution with 1k, 2k, or 4k settings. Qwen 3.0 uses size for pixel dimensions such as 1024*1024 and 1152*2048. Update the fields and accepted values when switching models; a shared key does not make request bodies interchangeable.

Give each edit the right inputs

Use separate imageURL and maskURL inputs for object removal, person and clothing photos for outfit changes, or source images and a prompt for image editing. Field names are case-sensitive. Build upload and selection steps around the inputs required for each edit.

Add a 2x or 4x upscale step

The Image Upscaler API takes an imageURL and a numeric scale of 2 or 4, then returns the result in imageUrl. Add a separate enlargement step for uploaded photos or images your users have finished editing.

FAQs

Answers for developers building with AI Image APIs.

Can I send more than one reference image?

It depends on the API. The dedicated GPT Image 2 editing API accepts one or two images in imageUrls. Qwen 3.0 image editing accepts up to three. Reference count and generated image count are separate settings, so check both when preparing a request.

How do I upload a photo or mask from my app?

Prepare an upload for each required input field on the selected capability. Transfer the file using the returned upload URL and headers, then place fileUrl in that input. Upload a photo and its mask separately before submitting the editing request.

How do I get the image, and what if my request times out?

Save the task identifier and query the same API until the task completes. Read the result field shown in its reference. If the submission response is lost, check recent tasks before submitting again. Image Watermark Remover uses requestId for queries; most image APIs use taskId.

Can I estimate image costs before generating?

Yes. MCP provides model and capability credit estimators that consume no credits. Estimate with the same model, size, and output count you plan to submit. Generation draws from your shared website and API credit balance; the completed task's usage is the final record.

How long are uploaded images and result links available?

Temporary uploads are cleared automatically. The API documentation does not specify a fixed retention interval or result-link lifetime. Save completed outputs you need to keep, and confirm storage requirements with support before making file availability promises to your users.

Are the image APIs ready for production traffic?

The API is currently in beta for testing and experimentation, and production use is not yet recommended. Rate and concurrency limits apply to your API key. Handle 429 responses and Retry-After, and confirm the capacity your application needs before planning a launch.

Am I charged if an image request fails or times out?

Confirmed failures are automatically refunded only when the refund outcome is certain. A local timeout does not establish a task failure or its final charge. Check the original task's billing record; if billing or refund status is unknown, follow the returned recovery instructions before submitting again.
